Lufthansa update on snub-nosed dogs on the passenger side as of Jan 1, 2020
The below email was received from Marco Klapper, Product Manager Live at LH Cargo in response to information being circulated about LH not carrying snub-nose pets effective January 1, 2020:
“There are currently rumors around that Lufthansa will no longer accept snub-nosed dogs effective January 1st 2020.
To make it clear:
- We as Lufthansa Cargo DO NOT plan to change our policy for snub-nosed dog breeds.
- We still have the temperature restriction in place. Transport is accepted, if temperatures at origin and destination airport are below 27°C.
- Some stations are embargoed in certain months with temperatures generally higher than 27°C.
I’m still waiting for the official wording from the Lufthansa Group passenger airlines (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian) regarding their future policy for snub-nosed pets shipped as excess baggage. I know that they are working on a communication package. But at this time I cannot comment on possible changes to the baggage/snub-nosed pets policy effective January 1st, 2020.”
