When choosing a puppy, you should first look at the mother and father. Pay attention to the head, physique top and bottom line! Look carefully at the pedigrees of both parents. Run the names of the dogs search the web. Before buying a dog look at everything you can find about the breed, either in books or on the Internet. Above all, find pictures of titled dogs that most close to the breed standard. The easiest way is to choose particular dog parent and contact its owners who plan to tell you when it’s possibly expecting puppies.
Now let's say that everything is settled well, you have found a litter and you are going to choose a puppy. It is not a secret that even puppies from the same parents differ from each other in appearance, character, etc. How can you choose the best one?
If you are not a specialist in the breed it’s quite difficult. In this case, you should trust the breeder - he knows his great bloodlines and can always point you most accurately. Usually a dog which is 8 weeks old is a miniature model of how it will look when it grows up. Put the puppy in a stand or ask the breeder to take a closer look at it. You can easily determine if it is harmonically complex. First, it needs to be well balanced, leaving the impression of a whole! The head should be broad skull with a pronounced transition from forehead to muzzle (as close to 90 degrees as possible). The muzzle should be broad and well filled. The eyes do not have to be closely spaced to one another. The body should be compact with short loins and deep chest. The bones must be healthy adequate to the size of the dog.
Test the character of the dog with some exercises – it should be lively, playful, with a very balanced and good temper. 1. Take a metal box and fill it with beans or pebbles. The puppy is placed freely. Squatting on his level and jingle a box. The dog should not be scared and run away from the noise or hiding the contrary must be curious and come to see the box. 2. Turn the puppy on its back – it should lend itself to be caressed and to relax quietly! If opposes and pulling – this is not a good sign. 3. Raise the puppy in the air with both hands without squeezing it through the abdomen - comfortably fit the hands between the front and hind legs. It must remain calm in the air, trusting you without resistance.
Should be a boy or a girl? It's up to you personally. Usually, female dogs are docile and calm and males are temperamental and stubborn especially when females come into season, males fight! Still, dogs, just like people, have different personalities - there are kind and calm males and passionate and exuberant females. It is best to choose the puppy according to your character and desire! The most important thing is that this will be a personal choice, which you should never regret!!!
